On Wednesday 22nd October Year 2 will be conducting a science experiment where we use plaque disclosing tablets to check how clean our teeth are. If you have any concerns about this, or would not like your child to take part, please speak to a member of the Year 2 team. Thank you.

Reading and Spelling
Phonics will continue to be an important part of the timetable in Year 2. Whilst the children will be in groups for phonics, we will also provide many opportunities throughout the week to continue to practise our phonics and spelling skills during other lessons. Home reading books are matched closely to your child’s phonic level.
Maths
We follow Power Maths at St James. Please see the currilculum map for coverage.
In addition to this, we do rapid recall daily that focus on a different statement each week based on what the children need to be able to recall quickly. They are tested on these every Friday. Nearer the second half of the Autumn term we will begin 5 in 5 daily which recaps skills that they have been taught this year.
How you can help
Please read with your child daily if you can, if not at least 3 times a week.
Please also take time to help your child learn the spellings that are sent home weekly.
