For information on Sandwell's admissions arrangements for each academic year, please click on this link: Determined Admission Arrangements

Applying for a School Place

To apply for a school place for Reception, please visit Sandwell's website available at this link: Applying for a School Place

When oversubscribed, priority can be given to children accepted on denominational grounds, supported by the Anglican/Church of England Church. Applications based on this criterion must be accompanied by a completed declaration form signed by a Vicar or Priest to signify attendance at an Anglican / Church of England Church on at least one occasion per month. Please see Determined Admission Arrangements (above) for admission priorities. The link to this form can be found here:
Church of England Denominational Forms

Mid-Year Admissions

Mid-year applications are when you apply to transfer your child from one primary school to another primary school during the school year.

If you wish to apply for a school place during the course of the school year, please visit the Sandwell Admissions website on this link where you will be able to download the relevant forms and follow the instructions on the form: Mid Year Admissions

Appeals

If the local authority cannot offer your child a place at the school, you have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel.

You can find out more about the appeals process here: Appeal Against a School Place Decision

Deferred Entry

Parents may seek a place for their child outside of their normal age group, for example, if the child is gifted and talented or has experienced problems such as ill health. In addition, the parents of a summer born child may choose not to send that child to school until the September following their fifth birthday and may request that they are admitted out of their normal age group – to reception rather than year 1. Sandwell’s policy on deferred entry for community and voluntary controlled schools is available here: Policy on Deferred Entry
